Zemetrics' "Cash for Clunkers"

Trade-in value for optical profilers

Tucson, Arizona—November 24, 2009 — Zemetrics Inc., manufacturer of high precision optical profilers for surface metrology, is offering buyers an option of trading in used equipment for credit on the purchase of new, state-of-the-art ZeMapper or ZeScope 3-D profilers. For a limited time, Zemetrics is offering a trade-in opportunity to encourage customers who have been unable or unwilling to upgrade legacy white light scanning interferometers or other types of profiling systems because of tight budgets in the current fiscal climate.

Many profiler owners have labored with under-performing older optical profilers, some of which are receiving dwindling support. Typically, available updates are mere band-aids on low-resolution imaging, 16-bit data processing, and unstable cantilevered architecture which have been superseded by Zemetrics' new design concepts. Cash for Clunkers customers would be relieved of the burden of disposing of, storing, or finding a buyer for older—even non-functional—optical profilometry equipment, while receiving credit on the purchase of a new system.

Under the trade-in program, buyers gain the advantages of new ZeScope or ZeMapper profilers, which feature large fields of view, ease-of-use automation, and 64-bit processing of the large data sets. ZeMapper features a 4 million pixel imaging sensor. ZeScope's imager is 1.3 million data points. They achieve 13 times and 4 times the standard 640×480 field of view, respectively, and provide correspondingly large data sets. Both systems have numerous automation, software and structural features that are unique to Zemetrics, or available only as expensive upgrades on competitive units.

Terms of the Zemetrics' "Cash for Clunkers" trade-in program are: that a system owned by the buyer is turned in for each Zemetrics system purchased; trade-in credit can be had for any make or model—complete—white light scanning interferometric microscope system. A 'system' in trade is considered to be the mainframe, processor, software and keys, with all cables, dongles, accessories and peripherals, except objectives. Trade-ins do not have to be in full working order. Trade-in credit will be apportioned relative to the make, model and condition of the used system. Other types of profiling equipment systems will also be considered at the discretion of Zemetrics for applicability to the trade-in program.

By taking advantage of Zemetrics Cash for Clunkers exchange program, metrologists gain improved surface measurement capabilities, more powerful processing, and greater ease-of-use, while alleviating budgetary concerns.
