• excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
• a college degree in a technical area
• previous verifiable experience in sales and technical applications of surface metrology equipment such as optical profilers, interferometry, or other measurement systems
• experience in assisting customers in needs assessment, system configuration development, and application of equipment
• a highly organized approach to a messy multi-tasking world.

Zemetrics is an ambitious start-up company that recently merged with Zygo, the forty-year industry veteran in our field of optical metrology. Based in Tucson, Arizona, the “optics valley” of the optics industry and staffed by some of the top people in our industry, Zemetrics has already created products that represent a new generation of optics based metrology instruments. Our software is cutting edge and highly innovative, controlling precision instruments and analyzing measurement data to meet the real-world needs of manufacturing facilities and research scientists world-wide.

Our scientific algorithms include “core” acquisition routines that must discern and make sense of the weakest signals masked by noise. We also have application specific algorithms used to process and analyze the raw measurement data. Unlike companies working in niche fields, our instruments are used by a wide variety of diverse customers. Each brings its own needs, requirements and unique challenges to the table, affording us the opportunity to work on a wide variety of problems and provide solutions in many different industries.

We are developing our software in C# and C++. We expect you to be proficient in these or similar languages. You also must have a strong Engineering, Physics or Optics background supported by a rigorous mathematical aptitude and possess the ability to translate theoretical algorithms into product-oriented solutions – vigorously robust, highly repeatable and optimized for speed and performance.  Proven experience with scientific algorithm development, image processing, signal processing, digital filtering and Fourier theory, and manipulation of large data sets expected. Experience with Metrology, Interferometry, Matlab, GPU or physics processors, Visual Studio .NET, interfacing hardware (digital cameras, DAC boards, etc.) are all a plus.
